A Brief History of
IBEW Local 343

IBEW Local 343, chartered on April 1, 1979, represents construction electricians across 26 counties in southern Minnesota, continuing a union presence in the region that dates back to 1919.

With offices and training facilities in Rochester and Mankato, the local promotes fair wages, strong benefits, and safe working conditions through collective bargaining, partnerships with signatory contractors, and a state-registered apprenticeship program.

With over 1,000 members, Local 343 remains dedicated to training, organizing, and supporting the region’s highly skilled electrical workforce.
